Oct. 8th, 2025 03:19 pmEDIT: BTW though he prefers to be called by his full name of Gregorith, when he feels close enough to someone they can call him Greg and the book calls him Greg so just in the narration I'm going to call him Greg.
First Impressiony Stuff
Gregorith is very tall (6'10''), and is a demon disguised as a human. He will likely set off any preternatural senses about such things or any sort of early alert wards/etc. someone has set up. He kinda has an air of menace that even other demons can find off putting. It's sometimes referred to in canon as “resting stab face”.
Gregorith (Greg to his friends) is from Hell. Just, probably not your universe's Hell. He is the Master of Level Nine which means he is in charge of the worst punishment level. He likely will not be getting into the nitty gritty of THAT job. (actually it's mostly admin stuff at his rank anyway)
While he won't be going around saying “hi I'm a demon”, he'll be honest about what he is and where he's from. He will nevertheless spend most of his time disguised asJohn Wick a human. In his undisguised form he has horns, a tail, dark red skin and red eyes. But the disguise will remain in place until I manage to make more icons.
The FMC of the canon felt the same vibes off of him at first meeting that she often got from dark rooms she needed to vacate immediately. So, there's that. It's something he's working on, and at least one cat thinks he's friend shaped, so there's that as well. (I was going to try a 'hard candy shell/chewy center metaphor but couldn't quite get it right. Though the innuendo would fit in well with the canon)
Speaking of:
Gregorith hails from the tiktok series “Hells Belles”, and the prequel novel “For Whom The Belle Tolls” by Jaysea Lynn.
The entire series takes place in the afterlife and basically functions via the trope “all myths are true”. Just not necessarily in the way mortals of his universe think. Basically every mythological and religious figure is real and has a realm in the afterlife, and the mortal realm contains cryptids and creatures of all sorts. Some of which scare the bejabbers out of demons.
Also some version of the Cthulhu mythos exists there, but like most things in the series, its far more benign than you might assume.
Our FMC Lily passes away and finds herself really digging the hereafter. Especially when she meets MMC Beleth. I don't want to spoil too much more than that but I will say a bit about the levels of Hell:
Levels one and two are therapy levels where souls receive the support they may not have gotten in life, before heading to reincarnation. Levels 3-5 are a combination of punishment and therapy intended to help souls see the error of their ways, so they can work their way up to levels one and two, and likewise, be reincarnated. 6-9 are just punishment and no one has ever been reincarnated from there.
The novel details Lily's arrival in the afterlife, setting up the Hellp Desk (more on that in a moment) and her relationships with folks there. And herself, frankly.
The tiktoks are a series of sketches mostly about the Hellp Desk and the growing cast of characters that man it (all played superbly by creator Jaysea Lynn). It's mostly funny, at times cathartic, and sometimes it may make you cry. The desk by the way is mostly there to help the demons working the intake desks. It draws the attention of the more troublesome souls away from them.
Though I will be endeavoring not to get into it, his canon does deal with a number of troubling issues. Think of the types of people likely to be sent to Hell, or the issues they may need help dealing with. It can get heavy.
A partial list includes torture, religious trauma, abuse, SA, and child death.

Date: 2025-10-09 09:22 pm (UTC)Now the tiktok series was made first but I understand the difficulties with that app. I dunno how to walk through the particulars of the interface, but if it helps the creator's account name on there is sea.ya.later, and she has the series playlisted on her page.
HOWEVER there is also a youtube option. I don't know how much of the videos are up there yet, she started putting them up there when it looked like the tickety tocker was going to go away, and since then her life got kinda hectic. But that might be the easiest route.
